Born in Coimbra, 1969, she lives and works in Lisbon. Filipa embodies two contrasting forces within her: the calm nature of Portuguese Alentejo and baroque references from Macau and Asia. As she is fascinated by detail and handcrafted materials such as Japanese origami, she looks for contradictory scales and materials, such as the hardness of wood and the fragility of paper. This duality equals to the dimensions of life, fragile and strong forces that shape our human existence.
