A global artist, Rita Portugal’s practice explores the impacts of globalization on contemporary society. She reflects on the constant circulation of peoples, the erosion of personal and collective frontiers, and the formation of identities in flux. These themes have led her most recent work to investigate narrative formats including video and installation which have resulted in an increased dematerialization.
